Teacher Cadet

Teacher Cadets are Adams 12 juniors and seniors interested in discovering if a future career in education is for them. It is a very successful, national program originating in South Carolina. The purpose of the program is to encourage high school students to consider a career in education, filling the gap of an impending nation wide teacher shortage.

Classes are held at the Adams 12 Educational Support Center, 1500 E. 128th Ave.

Professional Outlook:

There are tremendous opportunities in the field of education for today’s youth.  An estimated 200,000 new teachers will be needed within the next ten years.  In addition, the Colorado Education Association predicts a great need for teachers in the next five years, with the estimated retirement of 10,000 teachers.

Teacher Cadet provides the background experience for students who have an interesting the field of education, or in any of these related fields: couselor, media specialist, special education, curriculum specialist, literacy specialist, psychologist, principal, bahavior specialist, speech/language pathologist, occupational therapist, and more.
